Brabham Racing Takes Mission To Le Mans

Banbury, Oxfordshire, UK – Tuesday 9 June 2015: The clock is rapidly counting down to the 83rd running of the world’s greatest sportscar endurance race, Le Mans 24 Hours this weekend 13-14 June. Fast forward 12 months and Brabham Racing aims to be among the 56 car entry list, embracing its Le Mans race debut thanks to the direct support, engagement and collaboration of its global community of fans, drivers and engineers.

Triple Le Mans winner, David Brabham will make his first visit to the historic Circuit de la Sarthe as a Team Principal, having contested the epic sportscar marathon 18 times. He will arrive on Wednesday to continue investor and partner discussions as his mission to secure the investment required to bring Brabham Racing back to the world stage continues.

The Project Brabham funding model is taking the motor racing world by storm as it gives thousands of global fans, drivers and engineers the genuine chance to be an integral part of the new Brabham Racing team through interactive and experiential activities that will lead the way in modern motorsport.

This latest innovation in 60 years of Brabham heritage will create the world’s first community driven, open source, subscription funded motorsport business, which will have a big impact on the current funding crisis at the top of the sport while giving fans the insider perspective and access they crave.

Believing the time for change has come, Brabham Racing is throwing open the doors of the team as it strives to return via the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2016, with a three-year LMP2 campaign preceding its planned comeback as a manufacturer in LMP1.

The first of its kind in the sport, Brabham-Digital – a knowledge sharing and e-learning platform – will provide unrivalled behind-the-scenes access, immersing members in the highs and lows of returning the team to world-class status. The first stage website is now live at www.brabham-digital.com, complete with a dedicated login for members to get all the insider news and be a genuine part of rebuilding the house Sir Jack built.

Brabham Racing will make motorsport more accessible, transparent and engaging to fans, and more importantly it will allow the team to be more self-sufficient. For investors, it offers the opportunity to partner a game-changing business model uniting one of motorsport’s most iconic brands with the power of the Internet.

“We are now in the process of talking to potential investors and partners to make bringing Brabham Racing back a reality, and compete in the 2016 WEC and the prestigious Le Mans 24 Hours,” said David. “I have many meetings planned this week and it will be great to see the thousands of fans that come to the mecca of sportscars. For me having raced and won one of the biggest races in the world was an amazing experience, but to go there as a team owner and win will be incredible.

“For the Brabham name to return as a racing team in today’s world we had to pioneer a new and inspiring way. With today’s Internet connectivity and people’s desire to be closer to the action, Brabham Racing will offer a unique motorsport experience that inspires, engages and educates a global community of fans, drivers and engineers. Brabham is renowned for inspiring wins through pioneering thinking and this new model will challenge the current thinking and create a solid, sustainable financial model for the team. Brabham has changed history before; it is about to do it again.”

Project Brabham raised over £278,000, exceeding its initial target by nearly £30,000, in the six- week crowdfunding phase late last year and now boasts a 3,000 strong global community that has become the heartbeat of the team.

Those who contribute now and join the Brabham-Fan, Brabham-Driver or Brabham-Engineer Digital experiences can still benefit from special packages. However, these will only be available until the full platform and applications are built. To find out more about how to become part of the team visit www.brabham-digital.com
